I started this year off with a new mind set. I started a little late, so it has officially been one month of a healthier me. I feel AMAZING! It really truly is about having a positive attitude and actually wanting to put the work into it. I have started and stopped a diet or workout routine so many times I can't even tell you how many. Sounds familiar right? This year though, this year I was ready for it, this time I wanted it, it's just a different kind of feeling.
This morning was such a good start to my day. Not even really realizing it was my official one-month marker I hopped on the scale and to my surprise I weighed 179 pounds. I hopped off and then back on to make sure my scale wasn't lying to me and sure enough it was the same number. I then proceeded to do a happy dance around my kitchen for no joke a good 10 minutes straight. I went on with my day and had a smile on my face and everyone else I came across just seemed to be extra happy as well. The ladies in the McDonald's drive through were the best. Yes, I went to McDonalds. No, I didn't eat anything I treated myself to an iced coffee. I think I deserved it right?

I made some pretty big changes within this past month. I can't say that I completely changed my eating habits, but I have made major improvements. It's only been a month and I'm still learning but so far, I have tried to keep the carbs down. I'm getting a lot of great keto recipes off of TikTok and I'm not super strict with it so I guess you could say I'm giving lazy keto a try. I absolutely hate to cook. I wouldn't say that I'm enjoying it but I'm not dreading getting in the kitchen like I used to. My friends and I will constantly send updated healthy meals that we prepared and just that little bit knowing that I'm not in this alone has made this whole process so much more enjoyable. I also have committed. HARD. to a workout routine. I signed up for a half marathon so that definitely gave me the motivational kick in the ass to make sure I work out every time I'm supposed to. I figure the cold, snow, and rain doesn't stop me from getting my workout in, and yes, I ran in all already, then there's pretty much nothing that will!
Here are my tips on how I lost 10 pounds in a month.
Find a healthier eating plan it doesn't have to be dramatic or expensive because trust me I wanted to join some kind of healthful food program that basically cooks itself for you, but my bank account wasn't agreeing with that one. It might take some trial and error but if you stick with it, you will find something that works just right for you, and you won't be hating every minute of it.
Sign up for something fun. For me it was a half marathon. That is something that I have always wanted to do. Ask anyone else I know, and they definitely would disagree that I chose something fun to do. It doesn't' have to be that extreme just something fun to get you moving like a dance class or the bubble run 5k or maybe just a promise to your kids to take them on a bike ride 3 times a week as long as it's important enough to you to not skip it.
Have the right mind set going into it. If you are dreading the healthy eating, then you're going to cheat. If you are dreading working out, then you are going to skip it. You have to want it. Of course, you want the end result of feeling and looking better but if you don't really want it and are ready to give it your all its going to be a heck of a lot harder and to be honest just plain suck. I like to envision the future Jakki as I work out. For example, I am in the process of planning a fundraiser that is themed in the roaring 20's. So, as I was jogging in the flippin freezing cold I just pictured myself greeting my guests in my cute little flapper outfit feeling great, amazing, FABULOUS. It's something small but it really makes the time more enjoyable, and it flies by.
Do it with a friend. Your friend doesn't have to live close. Your friend doesn't have to work out with you and physically be there for you they just have to mentally be there for you. 2 of the 3 friends that have joined me on this journey live in different states, but it doesn't matter how far they are because we are still in this together.
